Blog Update 17/01/2020
During this week, I have focused on implementing my powers in the new 3D viewpoint for my title. By doing this, I was able to test whethere I will legitimately be able to carry on using this system for the rest of my practical work. I have had great success and now have 2 powers, the power of teleportation and invisibility, fully implemented into my title. These powers can ebviewed in action here:

The next stage is to implement the inventory and equipment system, in order to get my character in a playable position, before continuing to implement levels. I aim to be playtesting again by Saturday 25th January, in order to gain some feedback on the systems I have currently.
I have also worked on the overall concept of my powers, in the main looking at my UI and how I could improve it to make it friendly to new players. I came up with this style of artwork:
Fig 1: Power Backscreen
I think this design works well in my title as a main theme going forward will be portals and this piece of concept art captures that theme in an interesting way. It also has helped me look at Colour Pallets for my game, as making the title visually pleasing (in particular the abilities the player will be using) is an important factor in the players willingness to become invested.
Outside of this practical work, I have also continued my research on the theories behind Character attachment:

I have found out some interesting topics of discussion surrounding Character Attachment.
In this article, it is stated that interactive dialogue and the ability to choose outcomes to situations has a high probably of making players identify more succesfully with their character. This subject is one that is quite often touched upon in Games, with titles such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim having succeeded in giving this style of conversation in an interesting and impactful way. By giving the player the choice of how their character responds, they are more likely to relate to their avatars.
This will be an interesting topic to discuss. Whether through dialogue or gameplay choices, I think it will be important to give the player choices enough that they may be able to develop their own personality in their character, meaning the bond that develops will be much stronger.
